Lauer Dam Rehabilitation

Owner: Bureau of Indian Affairs
Location: Davis Creek, Modoc County, California
Summary: The Lauer Dam Rehabilitation project is located in remote Northeastern California at an elevation of 5,000 feet. The project is within Tribal Lands and being constructed in partnership with the US Army Corps of Engineers. As part of the project, a new dam will be constructed downstream of the existing dam. Due to the limitation of onsite earthen materials, a concrete core wall backfilled with rockfill was selected as the design. Construction will also include a new outlet works control structure and a new spillway. Other major components of work include: excavation and foundation preparation for the new dam, processing of rockfill from an onsite borrow area, controlled breaching of the existing dam to fill the new dam, improvement to existing access roads, outlet works control and early warning system.
