Boca Dam Seismic Modifications

Project Summary:

• Excavate a shear key near the downstream toe, place foundation stabilization material in the bottom of dike excavation, install filter ad drainage layers and toe drain system.

• Refill the shear key excavation with material from the In Reservoir Borrow Area (IRBA), place zoned earthfill and rockfill above the shear key, add cast-in-place concrete and steel struts to existing concrete spillway. Install fiber reinforcement polymer strips on the spillway bridge.

• Modification to existing electrical system.

• Control water during construction, dewatering of dam shear key excavation area, unwatering of dam and dike shear key excavation areas.

• Replace existing asphalt pavement on dam crest with continuously reinforced concrete pavement with various traffic barriers and asphalt pavement.

• Mill and overlay approximately two miles of Stampede Meadows Road after completing the above principal components of work.
